The second version tells the producer exactly who is reading and what stage they're at. Every paragraph can be tested against that constraint.
Missing entity targets
Without a mapped entity architecture, including both macro entities (the category-level concepts) and micro entities (the specific, granular terms), plus EAV triplets, the producer picks their own angle. They might produce something competent, but they won't cover the ground your topical authority strategy needs.
No structural requirements
When a brief doesn't set passage length, self-contained sections, or heading hierarchy, the producer falls back on defaults. Human writers follow their own style. LLMs follow their training patterns. Keyword-only direction

No acceptance criteria
This is the failure mode that creates the most revision cycles. Without clear criteria, neither the strategist nor the producer can point to a standard and say "this passes" or "this doesn't."
Conflicting signals
"Be creative and engaging" plus "follow SEO best practices" plus "keep it under 1,500 words" plus "cover these 12 subtopics." These are competing asks that the brief doesn't rank. The producer has to guess which one wins. They'll guess wrong at least some of the time.
